Responsible Fishing UK presents Knock On Effect 19th March 2011

We took over the lecture theatre on Saturday 19 March creating a spectacular ‘Domino Topple’ using deleted library stock of hard back books.

The topple was created to mark Science and Engineering Week and also promoting Barnsley libraries as vibrant, forward thinking and cultural assets across the borough.

“We are delighted to have this opportunity to create the library book domino topple, it is something we have been discussing as a team for a while now. For a certain generation of people, domino toppling revives fond childhood memories of watching Record Breakers on the TV after school. But more importantly for us, we want to develop toppling as an activity to engage people with the arts, creativity play and the links to wider subject areas such as in this case, the sciences. Our plan is to devise toppling packages that support schools and organisations like libraries, which are so important to the development and education of future generations, providing fun, bespoke and creative activity that inspires and engages people.”

The first book was toppled at 3pm on the Saturday 19 March by Cllr Roy Miller, Cabinet Member for Customer and Neighbourhood Services.
