If you are a music fan, you may recognise the above photograph. It was the cover to the second EP, Who The Fuck are Arctic Monkeys and was taken by Timm.
If you have ever stumbled upon our About Us page, then you may already know that Timm Cleasby Photography is run by the namesake and his missus. If not, here’s a bit about us.
We are Timm and Sam Cleasby – we run Timm Cleasby Photography, a Sheffield Photographer, we do wedding, portrait and commercial photography. Timm is the photographer and Sam is the brains… (nah, not really) We are a husband and wife team – this could go terribly wrong for some people but for us, it works. We love working together.

Timm was a sound engineer and Tour Manager for years, working with a ton of bands but in the last five years, with Arctic Monkeys. (You can find out a little more here) We finally figured out that touring for nine months of the year and having three kids don’t mix well and so we started our company two years ago.
Timm has been interested in photography all his life and loves his job, he has had several exhibitions and is a noted portrait and wedding photographer. He is part of an arts collective called Responsible Fishing and has had his work published in books, magazines and music covers. During his ‘former life’ Timm won Tour Manager of the Year for his time with Arctic Monkeys.
He also is the Production Director of Tramlines Festival in Sheffield and has taught courses in Tour Managing and Sound in schools and universities. As he loves to have his fingers in a multitude of pies, he is also managing a Sheffield band – Dead Sons.

I’m Sam and I have been the main caregiver for the last 11 years. I have also managed to fit around raising three kids, running a parent and toddler group, becoming Chair of the local pre-school and working as a massage therapist, doula and breastfeeding advisor. Once a year for the past 4 years I have a silly weekend of ridiculousness providing massage and holistic therapies to the artists, musicians and liggers at Leeds Festival, where I have the sole contract.
My role has somewhat changed now and Im the marketing director for the company, running the websites and social media platforms. Im the creative director and general assistant on photoshoots and also assist in the proofing and editing of shoots.

I suppose the purpose of this post is to properly introduce ourselves and get our personality out into our website and blog. I do the vast majority of blogging, tweeting, facebooking, tumblring etc and as most people assume it is Timm, because of the company name, I thought it only right to let people know who we are and who I am. I get a LOT of replies to Timm and sometimes feel a little dishonest!
As a reasonably new business, we are still finding our feet. We are passionate about photography and love what we do, but the business side is about always learning, tweaking and adapting. We have recently had an overhaul of the site and branding (hope you like it) and now we just need to make sure that our personalities shine through as well as our images.
It’s so easy to go too beige and boring and after reading an article by Rock n Roll Bride about pushing the boundaries with your web design, one thing in particular stood out to me. That was this image from Braid Creative.

Being weird is awesome, being weird to me means being myself, not following the crowd, being an individual.
I can assure you that Timm Cleasby Photography is, well, a little bit weird. We revel in our quirks though perhaps we don’t always advertise them as much as we should. We come from interesting backgrounds and that inspires us in our business. So this year, we won’t be going beige, nor forgetting about the weird things that make us special and awesome.
Look forward to more blogging, more features, more art, more music, more personal projects, we have loads of interesting sidelines planned for the next couple of years and we can’t wait.

Love
Sam and Timm
xx
